RÍAS BAIXAS
The Rías Baixas are among the main tourist destinations in Galicia. They include the wide coastal area of the province of Pontevedra and part of the south of Coruña, from Fisterra to the border with Portugal. It is the main shellfish production area in Galicia, where many of the canning companies are concentrated; and includes the cities of Pontevedra and Vigo. This coast is also home to hundreds of beaches and coves, chosen during the summer months for summer holidays because the area is considered to have the best climate in Galicia. Includes the Atlantic Islands National Park. Our proposal takes you to know a part of them, from Pontevedra to Illa da Toxa, Cambados and Vilagarcía de Arousa, a route that can be enjoyed in one day.
Pontevedra is less than an hour from Bachao. The city has a well-preserved and very lively old town due to its great movement, which contains some of the most beautiful squares in Galicia, such as Teucro, La Leña, La Verdura and Plaza de la Herrería, the center of much of the city’s events. It is essential to visit the Basilica of the Peregrina, patron saint of the city.

Leaving Pontevedra along the coast, towards the Island of A Toxa, in ten minutes we will arrive at Combarro, declared a historical site since 1972, striking for its concentration of granaries overlooking the sea and its narrow streets full of typical bars.
Continuing along the coast we will pass towns like Sanxenxo , one of the most important tourist centers in Galicia; Portonovo, which still has the great flavor of a fishing port; and, beyond, beaches such as Montalvo or A Lanzada, with one of the most beautiful Galician hermitages and the tradition of the nine waves, which women must let pass over their bodies if they want to conceive. A few minutes from A Lanzada is San Vicente do Mar and the O Grove peninsula, a town where we will take the bridge to go to the Island of A Toxa, well known for its medicinal springs and spa, as well as the soap factory. and cosmetics. It is worth taking a walk around the Island and visiting the Chapel of San Caralampio or de las Conchas, so called because its walls are covered in scallop shells.
Cambados and O Grove are among the most outstanding towns in the gastronomic section
Taking the PO-316, in just over half an hour you reach Cambados, a monumental town and capital of Albariño. It is declared a historical-artistic complex and is part of the Salnés region, the largest coastal plain in Galicia and, therefore, one of the most fertile. It produces one of the best white wines in Spain, recognized throughout the world, Albariño, under the D.O. Rías Baixas.
Very close by the VRG 4.3 is another of the main tourist destinations in the area, Vilagarcía de Arousa, capital of the estuary and natural port of Santiago de Compostela.
